Projects are a celebration and capitalization of long odds

Ten to One creates projects which celebrate lives and collectively build more equitable and sustainable communities. We work across a wide spectrum of project types, scales and budgets from community development to civic institutions to residences large medium small to furniture, from landscape to interior to fabrication, facilitated through a scalable and holistic process.

Our clients are co-contributors in social investment

Our process is a collaborative venture with clients and constituencies through a holistic, open source and scalable integrated project delivery method. Our design process spans through long term strategic planning, client, constituent and community engagement, collaborative development of mapping, construction systems, methodologies and management, fixture and finish procurement and fabrication. We undertake projects with a dual lens of zooming out to include socio-spatial and environmental context and justice and zooming in to listen, collaborate closely with and advocate for clients.

Building can be thought of as a long term endeavor, like the building of a better city or social network, like a longer term conversation of what gets built.

Our scope of work is customized and scaled for each project small to large and often expands beyond typical design services. We collaborate with a wide project team throughout the process and work to have MEPS building systems and construction technologies be integral to a collective design. Our design process is a balance between contextual perspective expanding outward and design strategy focusing empathically inward.

Ten to One advocates for inclusivity in our projects and fosters an inclusive studio environment in our practice.

Ten to One’s work has received such accolades as Rethinking the Future Honor Award / A|N Best of Design Awards Unbuilt Cultural category and Unbuilt Educational Honorable Mention / 2018 International Design Award (IDA) Bronze in Architecture / Urban Design | Architizer A+ Award Finalist Unbuilt Institutional category and Boston Society for Architecture Design Award Unbuilt category. We have contributed to the Venice Biennale as one of the multi-national team of outposts for the OfficeUS Pavilion and the Gowanus by Design Axis Civitas exhibition.
